About

theStory is a church that seeks to live out an alternative tale in a world bent on perpetuating systems of heartbreak. Valuing community, hospitality and risk, we intend to play our part in the redemption of all things.

Towards that end, we’ve chosen to use this building both as sacred space (where one can reflect and respond) and as a community venue (where the neighbourhood benefits and is held dear).

Our mission is un-hidden: We want to create an environment and opportunity for good. Our practice is simple: Love God, love others and tell His story.

"If there is no point in the story as a whole, there is no point in my own action. If the story is meaningless, any action of mine is meaningless...so the answer to the question 'Who am I?' can only be given if we ask 'What is my story?' and that can only be answered if there is an answer to the further question, 'What is the whole story of which my story is a part?'" (Leslie Newbigin)

Our Values

Rooted: That God’s story (the alternative story to the empire that we find ourselves in) takes root in us and we in turn root wherever we find ourselves.

Tabled: That we are assured a place at God’s table and in turn our hope is to be referred to as Jesus was, ‘drinking and eating, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners’.

Risked: That by embracing a holy insecurity, betting it all on God, fear is neutralized and in turn we become our true selves.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
